Happy Easter!

IMG_0079

So, what are you cooking? Ham? Turkey? Lamb? Or are you just going out for sushi?

Maple-glazed ham graced our Easter table.

Although there are many main course options, there’s one thing we can all agree upon—Chocolate. My teenagers demonstrated a willing suspension of disbelief in the Easter Bunny, because you’re never too old for Easter Smarties.

I made an Easter bread this long weekend using the Hot Cross Bun recipe from Butter Celebrates

It’s delicious and we’ve been nibbling on it all day since breakfast. Every time I pass by the cutting board, it’s spicy scent beckons. Tea always needs a little something on the side.

Like a good book. I’ve been dipping into Iris Apfel’s new, The Accidental Icon. (Review coming soon.)

I’ve also been doing some—well vintage fashion renovations, I think would be an apt term— using a seam ripper, not a sewing machine. I turned a dress into a tunic, and a velvet lounger (with mink cuffs!!) into a duster coat. Plus a couple of upgrades that involved a lot of buttons. (Post coming).

Easter wine was a winner.

Nabbed a bottle of the 2012:

Aromas of spices, pepper and black cherries. On the palate this wine is powerful, firm, elegant and ethereal.

Nebbiolo is one of the greatest red grape varieties, and this barbaresco demonstrates its haunting, hunger-inducing and age-worthy character beautifully while being simply the best fine-wine deal out there.
